Join us for a film screening and discussion of a full-length documentary, California Story: The effects of gang documentation (2026, directed by David Kuhn). The film delves into the history of gang databases, surveillance and their impact on criminal punishment with a focus on south east San Diego. After the film, San Diego panelists will discuss their vision for ending discriminatory laws and practices to create a more just California.

Join us for a US-Mexico border film screening and discussion of a full-length documentary, The Strike (2024, directed by Lucas Guilkey & JoeBill Muñoz). After enduring years of solitary confinement in California prisons, incarcerated organizers held the longest hunger strike in US history at Pelican Bay prison. Following the screening, we'll hear reflections from panelists on the hunger strikes and how they remade their life after prison and deportation to Mexico.
