I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of California, San Diego. My scholarship and creative work has focused on representations of the Colombian armed conflict and the fitful efforts to build a lasting peace in that Andean country. I bring an interdisciplinary perspective to my work, combining socio-cultural anthropology, media studies, and the documentary arts. This site has some information about my projects.

The AjA Project is a compassionate space for young people, activists, visual artists and educators to engage critically with issues that affect our community and realize our collective liberation through participatory storytelling and the documentary arts.
